Terrell King, Owner of Quiero Design, Harlow, tells us how Backing Essex Businesses Group2Grow Peer Network programme provided him insight and perspectives that have helped him to push his business forward and plan for the future.
Terrell King has always had a passion for design, even as a child he recalls drawing a picture of a snowy owl with a 90’s version of Microsoft Paint, which ignited his enthusiasm further. He didn’t study design, and was instead drawn into working for blue chip companies, but his desire to share his skills never dampened and in 2018 he started his own design agency ‘Quiero Design’.

The business has been steadily growing, taking on a multitude of projects and being recognised for its achievements in 2020 and 2021 winning Best Web Design Agency in West Essex, Best Marketing Designers in Greater London and the Most Innovative Digital Design & Marketing Agency.
Already working with a range of businesses, Terrell’s most memorable project was one he produced for local business Essex Discount Furniture. Working with a minimal budget and on a short timeframe, he produced for them a brand new ecommerce website, helping them improve their google rankings and giving them the ability to sell their goods online.
Wanting to now take his business to the next level, and recognising that he needed support to understand the complexities of running a business and techniques to assist him in scaling up, he started googling for help and came across Backing Essex Business.
Backing Essex Business is a business support service, delivered by Let’s Do Business Group and fully funded by Essex County Council. The programme supports businesses in Essex to overcome challenges, receive advice, and access finance and training to help them grow and thrive. A part of this service is a peer network programme called Group2Grow. Group2Grow brings together cohorts of business professionals to share experiences, challenges and knowledge, working collaboratively to find solutions, and guided by an experienced business coach.

The Group2Grow sessions are led by an experience business coach, who helps to discover what the common challenges are, and guides the sessions using their own knowledge and experience. Terrell’s sessions were led by marketing and PR expert Sarah Brockwell, who showcased to Terrell the importance of networking and building relationships.

Looking to the future, Terrell wants to continue his upward trajectory, taking on more clients and bigger projects, and increasing his businesses sustainability. He has already made a start on this through his new connections made in Group2Grow, even producing a logo for two new businesses free of charge in the spirit of helping others. He is also looking to expand his own knowledge and potentially his team, working closely with partners to create software solutions to assist his clients with their customer relationship management. Optimistic for the future, he is excited to get started and see what the future brings next!
